![]() The Finish: It has approximately 85-90% of the lacquered finish. Playing Condition: This instrument is currently in very good playing condition. Instrument Condition: The overall physical condition of this used instrument is very good to excellent. ![]() Virtually identical to the Couesnon alto flugelhorn used by Maynard Ferguson, and the same instrument that jazz artist and composer Mark Isham has used. From what we can find online this is manufactured by Couesnon for the Elkhart label. It plays wonderfully up and down with a nice rich mellow tone just like you would expect a flugelhorn to have. All of the tuning slides are easily pulled and have a good bit of pop to them when you pull them out! We used a trumpet mouthpiece to test play the horn and a mouthpiece is not included. The engraving on the bell reads “Elkhart” with “F” engraved on the second valve casing opposite of the serial number and “5V” on the mouthpiece receiver. It looks like when they re-soldered braces and such to put the horn back together after removing dents they did some spot re-lacquering. Someone has done some work on this to remove some dents and did a very nice job. It has 85-90% of its lacquered finish remaining and is a beautiful horn! It is in great shape with almost no dents or dings to speak of. This Couesnon for Elkhart 5V F alto flugelhorn is in very good condition.
